Control & Review Boards

Published date: March 7, 2024,

Control and Review Boards in Canadian Tire are typically internal committees or panels responsible for evaluating and reviewing various aspects of the company's operations. These boards may be involved in assessing performance,  assessing the potential effects of a proposed technical change or implementation on a system and also to provide leadership more visibility into solutions and our technical landscape.

Architecture Review Board reviews also provide leadership more visibility into solutions and our technical landscape, while providing teams' decisions in a timely manner that are aligned to defined target state architectures.

The following items MUST follow the ARB process to be reviewed by the Architecture Team.

  • New Projects (Project Intake)
  • New API
  • Updated API Contract
  • New/Updated Orchestration
  • New/Updated Integration (e.g. i18, i20 etc.)
  • New/Updated Capability (e.g. Adding a Gift Registry or upgrading/replacing recommendation engine)
  • New Vendor
  • New Infrastructure (Cloud Architecture Review)
  • New Process/Features that require platform or enterprise system changes (Hybris, AEM, CDS, Loyalty etc.)
  • Architecture Patterns – New/Exceptions

Teams with initiatives meeting any of the above criteria are required to review the Technical Governance Process and complete the initial portion of the Digital Architecture Snapshot. Once the Digital Architecture Snapshot is prepared, teams can then book a Pre-ARB with the Architecture team who will then facilitate a review session and provide direction, approval, or book additional sessions such as a TGB (Technical Governance Board) meeting as required.
