Dependency Management

A Dependency is a relationship between two elements which reflects a logical, constraint-based or a temporary relationship.

How to manage the dependencies

Identify and discuss any dependencies during backlog refinement
If a dependency is on other team, Scrum Master/Team coach should proactively reach out to the team to obtain commitment to resolution date. Do not assume and start working unless due date is committed
Review/Discuss the final resolution with corresponding teams for closure and acceptance
Collaborate frequently to resolve
Never commit to a epic that depends on a component/capability/function that does not exist yet
Leverage SoS to raise/discuss dependencies and conduct “Meet After” if needed
Work with the POD accelerators (chapter manager/platform leads) to better manage dependencies with other teams
Story dependencies should be managed in Jira (can we get a Jira config to call item type a dependency to track these in Jira?)
