Overview:

Role Description : The Release Train Engineer (RTE) is a servant leader and coach for the Agile Release Train (ART) who facilitates program level processes and execution, drives continuous development and improvement, manages risks and escalates impediments.

Release Train Engineer Skills

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage & optimize the flow through the Agile Release Train (ART) using program kanban and other tools

  • Establish and communicate the annual/bi-annual calendars for Iterations and Program Increments (PIs)

  • Facilitate PI planning event and PI Planning readiness by fostering a Continuous Exploration process which drives the synthesis of a Vision, a Roadmap, and Backlogs, and through Pre- and Post-PI Planning events for ART

  • Summarize Team PI objectives into Program PI Objectives and publish them for visibility and transparency

  • Facilitate periodic synchronization events, including the ART sync

  • Assist with economic decision-making by facilitating prioritisation workshops using WSJF , where necessary

  • Improve the flow of value through value streams by improving and assessing the practices associated with DevOps and Release on Demand in the Continuous Delivery Pipeline

  • Facilitate Inspect & Adapt event which includes System Demos, Quantitative and qualitative measurement,  Retrospective and problem-solving workshop

  • Ensure ART has needed environment, tools, skills in place to start with necessary development activities

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Assist tracking the execution of EPICs

  • Support Product Management, Product Owners, and other stakeholders to help ensure strategy and execution alignment

  • Help drive the Lean User Experience (UX) innovation cycle

  • Work with DevSecOps CoE on program execution and operational excellence

  • Understand and operate within Lean Budgets and ensure adherence to Guardrails
