Test Automation Engineer (TAE)

Overview:

A Test Automation Engineer (TAE) in SAFe® is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automated test scripts and frameworks using the Unified Test Automation Framework (UTAF) to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the testing process. They collaborate closely with Agile teams and QE professionals to identify areas for test automation and ensure the delivery of high-quality software products.

Test Automation Engineer (TAE) Skills

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop automated test scripts and frameworks using UTAF to support functional, regression, and performance testing.

  • Collaborate with Agile teams to identify test automation opportunities and provide guidance on testability and automation best practices.

  • Integrate test automation scripts into the continuous integration and delivery pipeline using UTAF to enable efficient and reliable software delivery.

  • Execute and maintain automated test suites using UTAF to ensure the stability and accuracy of the automation framework.

  • Conduct code reviews and provide feedback to ensure the maintainability and scalability of the UTAF codebase.

  • Collaborate with QE professionals to define and implement test automation strategies, standards, and guidelines using UTAF.

 

 

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with developers and QE professionals to identify and resolve automation challenges and issues.

  • Stay updated with the latest tools, technologies, and best practices in test automation, specifically related to UTAF, and propose their adoption where applicable.

  • Provide training and support to Agile teams and QE professionals on UTAF and test automation techniques.

  • Contribute to continuously improving test automation processes and frameworks, focusing on UTAF.

Technical Skills :

  • Java, Python, or C# for UTAF-based automated test script development.

  • Web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and web service testing (REST, SOAP) using UTAF.

  • Understanding of test data management, test environment setup, and configuration management with UTAF.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Effective communication and collaboration with Agile teams.

  • Adaptability and teamwork in an Agile environment.

  • Continuous learning mindset for staying updated with UTAF and test automation trends.

Tool Skills:

  • Unified Test Automation Framework (UTAF) includes s and customization options. Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, Git).

  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN).

  • Knowledge of test management tools (e.g., Jira, qTest) integrated with UTAF.
